SSAU-YES2 Equipment

Gear SSAU-YES2 is meant for highly accurate time-space determination of SC Foton M#3 motion during the experiment YES2. The main feature of this gear is that the problem of satellite radionavigation is solved in restricted visibility conditions of navigational satellites, which supposes the utilization of 2 antennas, placed apart for signal recept from GLONASS & GPS satellites. The results of measurements finished with data received from the same navigational receiver, placed in deploying block Mass, allow for the first time to calculate the dynamics and contour of 30 km long space tether system.

Gear Structure

The gear SSAU-YES2 consists of electronics unit (fig. 1.), 2 pickup antennas (PA) (Fig. 2.), full-adder (Fig. 3.) and a set of connection cables. Electronics unit is placed inside of the recoverable capsule and consists of:

-Navigational receiver (Ijevsk radioplant), adapted to work with two antennas, allowing to receive signals from navigational satellites GLONASS/GPS;

-Independent-of-energy memory module for measurement results conservation;

-EPU;

-Controller.

Identical antennas (PA) are placed on HIT container according to the scheme (Fig. 4.) in a way to provide the visibility of navigational satellites for navigational problem solving. The planes of receiving parts of PA are parallel to longitudinal axis of SC.

Full-adder is placed on container HIT and provides mixing of radionavigational signals incoming from two pick-up antennas.

The placing of full-adder is not constrained.

Main parameters of electronics unit

The shape of the unit is parallelepiped. Tee mass of the unit is no more than 1 kg. The high-frequency cutoff point for connecting with mixing machine, metallization point of contact, cutoff point for power supply are placed on the front panel of the unit.

Main parameters of pick-up antennas

Pick-up antenna GLONASS/GPS signal receiver is adapted to functionate in open space and was verified during the SC FOTON#2 flight. The power consumption of each antenna is no more than 0,6 watt. The temperature conditions of sensors are between -40..+80. The mass is no more than 0,7 kg.

Main parameters of the full-adder

The shape of the full-adder is parallelepiped. The mass is no more than 220 gr. The dissipation power is no more than 0,5 watt.

Power consumption and mass budjet

The total power consumption of apparatus SSAU-YES2 is no more than 4 watt, the mass of apparatus is no more then 3 kg. Apparatus operating mode Apparatus operating mode SSAU-YES2 is uninterrupted. The switching on of the apparatus occurs at the command of propulsion system of SC FOTON#3 engaging during it`s re-orientation for experiment YES2. The switching off of the apparatus is nessesary to realize before the descending of SC from the orbit. After carrying out the tests amounting to SC the independent-of-energy memory in an electronics unit must being cleaned. It is nessesary to give a command of switching on and of of the equipment. Telemetric control of the equipment is not nessesary.
